In most of the studies, symptoms experienced by the menopausal women were analyzed using a scale, which originated in the West, without taking into consideration the socioeconomic, socio-demographic factors and cultural background of Asian region.Until there are adequate data on the magnitude and extent of menopausal problems in this region, it is not possible to recommend appropriate interventions or treatments.Malaysian studies on menopausal women were limited and mostly done in Peninsular Malaysia and urban settings.
