We have developed a statistical analysis model for a gas detection system using a pulsed laser source and photo-detector, and then simplified the statistical analysis model to obtain the results efficiently. In this book our statistical analysis model is used for a generic mid-IR pulsed-laser gas detection system to predict trace gas detection and concentration estimation. The overall system statistical analysis model allows us to comprehensively evaluate and analyze a gas detection system as a whole, instead of merely looking at the system components individually. The generic analysis model can be specified with other system component (laser source, optical cavity, and photo-detector) parameter values, representing systems for different applications thus, this generic analysis model can be used to evaluate the performance of a variety of gas detection systems represented by this model.
