Coca Nasa also produces coca-based beer, snacks and rum, among other products. \n\nAt the beginning of December, a Bogota law firm representing Coca Cola filed a lawsuit against Coca Nasa, asking them to drop the name Coca Pola as it could be 'confused with the trademarks' of the American company and 'may violate Colombian trademark law.' \n\n"Coca is one of the main symbols that characterise the Nasa people, it is one of the main identities, it is what has identified us ancestrally, for thousands of years as a culture and as Nasa people," Fabiola Pinacue, founder of Coca-Pola said, adding that Coca Cola lawsuit is "wrong because they came and usurped our knowledge thinking that they could deed it and that it could be theirs, well no, they were wrong because they have not come to request it, there is no trace of an express request to any community to make use of the product and much less the name."\n\n---\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "In Bogota, I dedicate myself to the commercialisation, dissemination, promotion, popularisation, and de-demonisation of the coca leaf. Through a variety of products, as you can see, these types of drinks, coca libre, biscuits, drinks, snacks, in general, all these types of products that are very good for the human being."\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "Coca is one of the main symbols that characterise the Nasa people, it is one of the main identities, it is what has identified us ancestrally, for thousands of years as a culture and as Nasa people."\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, Founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "What we are doing is to dignify and position ourselves in the market, not by selling the culture as many have told us, but by transforming it in such a way that not only the indigenous peoples have the opportunity to know the benefits of the coca leaf, but that the world knows it through the hands made by us indigenous people."\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, Founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "Coca-Pola is our drink made by our hands but also, we have ancestrally made our own drinks, our own liquors, our own guarapos - we have made all those drinks. And what we do with Coca-Pola is a mix between ancestral wisdom and the use of Western, industrial wisdom, because that's what knowledge should be for, to share it and not for one person to come around and register it."\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, Founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "Coca-Cola says that we can't use the word 'coca,' but it's a huge mistake because now, now everyone is talking about intellectual property, but it turns out that this is an individual property and they put an intellectual property on it, pure bullshit. It's not by intellectuals, it is by thieves."\n\nSOT, Fabiola Pinacue, Founder of Coca-Pola (Spanish): "Coca-cola has dealt badly, it is wrong because they came and usurped our knowledge thinking that they could deed it and that it could be theirs, well no, they were wrong because they have not come to request it, there is no trace of an express request to any community to make use of the product and much less the name."\n\n#Colombia #CocaCola #IndigenousDrink\n\n Video ID: 20211224-036\n\n Video on Demand: https://ruptly.tv/videos/20211224-036\n Contact: cd@ruptly.tv \n\n Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly\n Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly
