Shenzhen has imposed tough restrictions after two people contracted the Delta variant on January 7, 2022. Since then, restrictions on movement have been implemented, and all 12.5 million of the city’s residents have undergone compulsory testing. In neighbouring Hong Kong, the city’s leader rejected proposals from lawmakers to implement mainland-style measures as the city grapples with its fifth wave.
