The snow has caused havoc in northern and western parts of Japan causing disruption to travel and power outages. Roadways in Taga remained open despite the poor driving conditions. More than 100 domestic flights were already grounded on Sunday in the affected areas of the country, and people living along the Sea of Japan were warned to refrain from non-essential outings.
