A series of new polls came out this week that have some really horrible news for Joe Biden and the Democrats. The polls also have some really great news for Joe Biden and the Democrats. And it's very, very weird, by the way, what these new polls show us. We've got two polls to deal with here. One from Marquette lawsuit, Law School, excuse me, the other from Politico and Morning Consult. Now, according to the Marquette poll, this is the one that has the best news. Donald Trump, excuse me, Joe Biden, if the 2024 presidential election were held today would get 43% of the vote against Donald Trump who would only get 33% of the vote. So if it were held today, and I know we've got a long way to go, it's way too early to even talk about it, but we do it anyway, Biden beats Trump by 10 points right now. In a hypothetical race against DeSantis, Biden polls slightly worse, 41% of adults nationwide said they would throw their support behind Biden, while 33% would support DeSantis. So he's got an eight point edge over DeSantis, a 10 point edge over Trump. Either way you slice it, those are massive margins of victory for Biden. Again, if the election were held today instead of two and a half years into the future. Now, yeah, I understand a lot of people don't like to talk about presidential polling at this point. We haven't even gotten to the midterms yet. It's way too early and of course, as we all know, these polls are gonna change a hundred times before we get to the 2024 presidential election. But they still carry an immense amount of value to let the party know what to do, where they need to go and who their best competition may be and right now it's not Trump and it sure as hell is not the DeSantis. Joe Biden does great against them. However, the Politico Morning Consult poll is the one that has some really bad news because it says, if the election were held today, 46% of registered voters would support the eventual Republican candidate compared with 37%, who would back Biden for a second term. The poll also showed Biden faring better when prominent GOP, when placed against prominent GOP figures in a hypothetical rematch of the 2020 election, Biden would best Donald Trump 45 to 44% and former president Mike Pence, Biden held a two point lead. Against Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz, he beats them by six and five points, respectively. So that's what's so weird about this, right? Put him up against generic Republican, he loses massively. But then when you start naming names of people who may actually run, everybody's like, oh no, actually I would pick Biden over Trump. I'd pick Biden over Pence. Yeah, I'd go with Biden over DeSantis. I'd go with Biden over Cruz. So do these polls even tell us anything at all? I mean, I guess that's the big question and the answer is yes, but it tells us less about the Democrats and more about the Republicans. It tells us that in theory, people are not happy with president Biden and they would like to switch back to the other party. But then when they're reminded what the other party has to offer Trump, Pence, DeSantis, Cruz, they're like, oh, no, nevermind. I'm back to Biden.
