Psalm 43 1. O God, with our ears we have heard, and our fathers have told us 2. What you did in their days, in the days of old. 3. Thy hand hath devoured the nations, and planted them; you tormented them and took them out. 4. They did not inherit the land with their sword, nor did their arm save them. 5. But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hast done well in them. 6. Thou art my King and my God, the Redeemer of Jacob. 7. With thee will we break in pieces our adversaries, and with thy name will we subdue them that rise up against us. 8. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me; 9. But thou hast saved us from those who afflict us, and hast put shame on those who hate us. 10. All the day long we will praise God, and we will confess your name for ever. 11. And now thou hast cast us off, and hast put us to shame; 12. You have turned us back from our adversaries, and those who hated us have plundered them. 13. Thou hast given us as sheep for food; and hast scattered us in tongues. 14. Thou hast sold thy people without price, and thy multitude hath lifted up their voice. 15. Make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. 16. Thou hast made us a byword in tongues, shaking our heads in the multitude. 17. All day long my shame is before me, and the shame of my countenance covers me 18. by the voice of him that reproacheth and gossipeth; by the face of the enemy that chaseth him. 19. All these things have come on us, and we have not forgotten you, and have not turned aside from your word. 20. And our heart is not turned backward; and you have turned aside our paths from your way, 21. for thou hast humbled us in the place of torment, and the shadow of death hath covered us. 22. If we have forgotten the name of our God, and stretched out our hands to a strange god; 23. Will not God seek these? Because He knows the secrets of the heart. 24. For we are slain all the day long before thee, and as sheep for the slaughter. 25. Get up! What are you sleeping for, God? Arise and do not cast us off! 26. Why do you turn your face away? Do you forget our poverty and our trouble? 27. For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth to the earth. 28. Resurrect, Lord, help us and save us for Your name's sake!
