Look to the skies, and the teles for today’s topic. The 1970 British sci-fi series titled, UFO. It was created by Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson, the talented husband and wife duo behind the mid-sixties series Thunderbirds, which was very popular. In 1969, the Andersons wrote the underrated scifi movie, 'Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun' - which had Ed Bishop in the cast, so when the Andersons were putting the pieces together for 'UFO', Bishop was primed to star. The show follows the exploits of the Earth Defence Directorate, a secret organization of the United Kingdom responsible for defending against alien invasion. Originally a space exploration program with an emphasis on scientific accuracy and technical detail, but the show made sure to hit light-speed into an action-adventure Sci-Fi saga. And what was created...A single series of 26 episodes, including the pilot, filmed over the course of more than a year..
