Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) Berlin was one of the safest biocontrol agents that can effectively attack pests, which constitute the major share of whole insect pests. The main problem in utilization of this effective biocontrol was its high production cost. One of the main possible reasons was the utilization of costly substrates for the growth of this bacterium on industrial scale. Here comes the need of a research, utilizing various low-cost materials as substrates for Bt growth. I have use various low cost substrate for the mass production of Bt. Further research need to be done in this aspect, so that cost of production of Bt can be reduced to a considerably low level and we can hope that this wonderful bio-control agent may be available at a cheaper price to the poor farmers of our country in the near future.
