More precisely, we show how the epipolar geometry can be recovered from algebraic curves. For that purpose, we introduce a generalization of Kruppa s equations, which express the epipolar constraint for algebraic curves. Reconstruction from a single image based on symmetry is also considered and we show how this relates to algebraic curves for a simple example. We also investigate the question of three-dimensional reconstruction of an algebraic curve from two or more views. In the case of two views, we show that for a generic situation, there are two solutions for the reconstruction, which allows extracting the right solution, provided the degree of the curve is greater or equal to 3. When more than two views are available,we show that there construction can be done by linear computations, using either the dual curve or the variety of intersecting lines. In both cases, no curve tting is necessary in the image space. Finally we focus on dynamic scenes and show when and how the trajectory of a moving point can be recovered from a moving camera. ····· 10361133270

The first step toward finding knot invariants was made by Reidemeister by introducing the Reidemeister moves. Even before the discovery of the Reidemeister moves, Alexander defined geometrically a polynomial knot invariant which was later defined by Conway in 1970 in terms of a skein relation. In 1985, V. F. R. Jones revolutionized the knot theory by defining the Jones polynomial as a knot invariant. However, in 1987 L. H. Kauffman introduced a stat-sum model construction of the Jones polynomial that was purely combinatorial and remarkably simple. Our contribution to knot theory includes a general recurrence relation for the Jones polynomial that helps in proving many qualitative results and an expansion formula that drastically reduces the computations in calculating Jones polynomials. Since transformations in this model are structure preserving, this algebra is able to treat motions in a unified way. In our search for a general interpolation method of transformations, we focus on determining their logarithms. First we look at how Taylor series can be evaluated for transformations in this algebra. A drawback is that in general infinite series has to be evaluated to achieve exact results. Therefore we also present our generalized Chasles theorem, that classically only takes care of rotations and translations, to decompose motions such that they can be interpolated having a closed form expression. The proposed method successfully describes logarithms of certain compositions of basic transformations, but is not able to yield the general logarithm of a conformal transformation.
