Extra Gauge Bosons in E6 Models

····· lezzter Preis 44.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The decay width of the extra boson is calculated numerically in effective rank 5 models for different mixing angles of the model and for different mass values of the extra boson. The decay width of the boson to the Standard Model (SM) fermions is found to be between 4.42 and 19.36 GeV and the full decay width of boson to all particles is found to be between 20.87 and 37.15 GeV. In this thesis after giving the basics of the Standard Model, Supersymmetry (SUSY), Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MMSM) and Extra Gauge Bosons we calculated the decay width for the Standard Model boson and then the decay width to the SM fermions for boson for different mixing angles and masses. Finally, we calculated the full decay width at the angle for and . ····· 10361117919

Overall Uncertainty Analysis

A study to perform an uncertainty analysis of the European accident consequence assessment system, Cosyma, has been carried out under contract to the European Commission. The study involved a series of analysis of the uncertainty in different sections of the system, followed by a final analysis of the uncertainty in the whole system. The overall aims of the study can be summarised as: - to formulate a state-of-the-art expert judgment methodology which is capable of finding broad acceptance - to apply the methodology to estimate uncertainties associated with the predictions of the probabilistic accident consequence system, Cosyma - to provide an input to identifying future research and development priorities. Uncertainties analysis involves specifying probability distributions for the values of each of the parameters involved, sampling sets of values from those distributions and propagating them through the model to derive information on the uncertainty in the model prediction. Those parameters whose uncertainties make major contributions to the overall uncertainty can then be identified using correlation coefficients between the input values and the model outputs. ····· 10361117731

The Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments, unlike the B-Factories, have the unique opportunity to study the production and the decays of b-hadrons with c and s quarks, and among them especially the b-baryons which are the less known to date. The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) experiment pioneered this eld of research. Moreover, it currently has the world`s largest data sample of bottom baryons and this is mainly due to the combination of the large accumulated integrated luminosity delivered and the use of the displaced track trigger, a sophisticated piece of hardware, which is capable to select online events with secondary vertices, a typical feature of heavy hadrons decays, thus rejecting most part of the background from light quarks. ····· 10361114895

Design and Simulation of a Passive-Scattering Nozzle in Proton Therapy

This book provided a design and simulation method for a passive-scattering nozzle in proton beam radiotherapy. The double-scattering system including the range modulation wheel in a proton treatment nozzle was designed by using the NEU code. The Monte Carlo particle-transport code MCNPX was used in predicting dose distributions in this book. In the passive-scattering treatment technique, a rotating range modulation wheel is used to generate a spread- out Bragg peak depth-dose distribution. This dynamic geometry cannot be modeled in the simulation of MCNPX. This book provided an application of the replacing dynamic by static method to solve this problem. A script mcnp_pstudy, written in Perl programming language, was used to set up a series of MCNPX input files, each of which contains the parameters of a specified step of the wheel, and invoke MCNPX to simulate each problem successively. The other Perl script merge_mctal was used to merge all the separate simulation results into one file containing the simulation results that are equivalent to a dynamic simulation. ····· 10361114587

As a resolution of the well-known hierarchy problem, like supersymmetry the model of extra spatialdimension(s) proposed by N.~Arkani-Hamed,S.~Dimopoulos and G.~Dvali(ADD) in 1998, and byL.~Randall and R.~Sundrum(RS) in 1999, have generatedconsiderable enthusiasm among the physics community. In this thesis, we have made a phenomenologicalstudy of both of these models. After a briefintroduction of the ADD model and the RS modelin chapter 1 and chapter 2 and a brief review of theexisting phenomenlogical studies in chapter 3, wehave derived the order $kappa^2$ Feynman rules inthe context of ADD model. In chapter 5, we haveinvestigated theeffect of gravity in the DIS (i.e. the process $e^+ +p rightarrow e^+ X$) and compare our result withthat at HERA to constrain the parameters of the RSmodel. Exposure to indoor radon is known to be one of the main risks of ionizing radiation. It is estimated that tens of thousands of deaths globally occur per year due to the lung cancer. Many national authorities have therefore put in place large monitoring campaigns to delineate those areas that are at risk. Besides radon, naturally occurring radionuclide in soil and building materials is another source of radiation exposure to the general public. Therefore, assessment of gamma radiation dose from natural sources is also of particular importance. Consequently, millions of radon and natural radioactivity related measurements have been made worldwide and reported in the open literature. The current book deals with the experimental studies concerning measurement of indoor Radon in different seasons. The radiological hazards associated with indoor radon and natural radioactivity present in soil and building materials are also dealt with in greater details. A comprehensive review of the radon related studies carried out in Pakistan, measurement of radon exhalation rate from the samples of soil and building materials and its dependence on moisture content are also included in this book. ····· 10361114035

····· 10361108131

Fission fragment angular distribution of even-even and odd-mass targets induced by the bremsstrahlung radiation near fission barrier is one of the promising areas to obtain information on the effect of target ground state spin on transition state distributions. From the excitation energy dependence of the angular distributions, it is possible to characterize the saddle states in terms of energy and quantum numbers J and K of the nuclei. The author has carried out systematic studies on the measurements of fission fragment angular distribution of bremsstrahlung radiation induced fission of 232Th, 238U and 237Np in the energy range of 7.4 MeV to 9.2 MeV obtained from Microtron at Mangalore University,India. The effect of ground state spins of target nuclei and energy dependent cross-section near threshold have been obtained. Hypernuclear Spectroscopy

One of the main tasks of nuclear physics is the study of subatomic particles and their interactions. The nucleon-nucleon interactions have been extensively studied over the last decades and have been supported with plenty of experimental data. The discovery of a new quantum number, strangeness, and a new type of particles that contain it, hyperons, spurred a renewed interest in science. New classes of interactions, hyperon-nucleon, and hyperon- hyperon, evolved. One of the best ways to study such interactions is to place a hyperon inside a nucleus, where it serves as a probe of the internal structure and might manifest properties that cannot be seen in an ordinary nucleus. This book presents the high resolution spectroscopy of light to medium hypernuclei recently obtained in Jefferson Laboratory. The main emphasis is given to the physics of the core-excited states. The described analysis techniques allowed achieving high quality missing mass spectra with energy resolution of 400- 500 keV, an unprecedented value in the history of hypernuclear reaction spectroscopy. ····· 10361102868

The Quest for the Origin of Mass

`The Standard Model` of particle physics is a description of the fundamental particles, the quarks and leptons, and the forces between them. The Standard Model also explains the origin of mass, which predicts the existence of the Higgs boson, the last undetected particle in the Standard Model. This thesis presents a search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the `H -bb` decay channel in 1.96 TeV proton-antiproton collisions. This search is based on the data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.3/fb collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. To improve this search sensitivity, sophisticated multivariate techniques are employed. Through the use of these techniques, the analysis achieves an observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit of 5.26 (3.98) times the theoretically expected production cross section for the Standard Model Higgs boson with a mass of 115 GeV/c^2. This result represents a substantial improvement in sensitivity over the previous result, the increase in sensitivity is 26%. ····· 10361102378

Simulation-Based Sequential Bayesian Filtering

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Stochastic models are used to describe many real world random processes which necessitate the extraction of hidden (unobserved) states (signals) from noisy observable (measured) outputs. We consider a class of nonlinear dynamic state space models which contain conditionally linear and unknown static parameters. For tracking the a posteriori distribution of the hidden states of this type of models, one can apply particle filtering, which is an increasingly popular method in many fields of science and engineering. It is based on the Bayesian methodology and approximations of the distributions of interest with random measures composed of samples (particles) from the space of the states and weights associated to the particles. Particle filtering performs tracking of the desired distributions as new observations are made by modifying the random measure, that is, the particles and the weights. We address the application of particle filtering with the use of the Rao-Blackwellization principle. Rao-Blackwellization reduces the variance of estimators, and it is based on the Rao-Blackwell theorem. ····· 10361102255

The jet production in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at relativistic and ultrarelativistic energies using the HIJING is studied and discussed. We analyzed the distributions of multiplicity of secondary charged particles, their pseudorapidity, rapidity and the transverse mass as a function of the number of jets. These parameters are used to estimate energy density and temperature of the hadronic matter to get the signal about QGP formation. For ultrarelativistic energy we considered pp at 14 TeV, PbPb at 5.5 TeV, pPb at 8.8 TeV and ArAr at 6.3 TeV, same as in ALICE and also at 25.0 GeV as relativistic energy. We obtained some insights about some properties of jets and their influences on the characteristics of the secondary particles produced in relativistic and ultrarelativistic hadronic collisions. In this text the background information about the jet production is presented in chapter 1. Chapter 2 contains description of the HIJING parameters. Chapter 3 is a description of the ALICE detectors. The results obtained by using the HIJING for pp, pA and AA interactions are presented and discussed in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 summarizes the conclusions. ····· 10361101775

Chiral Leptons and Hypermagnetic Fields in the Hot Electroweak Era

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
In the standard model, neutrinos, unlike electrons, are massless, electrically neutral and possess no magnetic moment. They can interact with the electromagnetic field only by radiative corrections. But before the electroweak phase transition, all leptons were massless, hypercharged particles that couple to the hypermagnetic field at tree level. In this volume, we consider the direct coupling of chiral leptons to an external hypermagnetic field in the symmetric, or unbroken electroweak era. Using the strong field approximation, and Ritus` method for transformations to momentum space in a constant, uniform background field, we find that a magnetic mass term appears in the massless lepton Green`s function, which makes the self-energy finite, and avoids infrared divergences. Finite-temperature calculation of self-energies to first order in momenta demonstrates that the temperature-dependent, mass-like term that exists in the absence of the external field disappears, and that the chiral-lepton flux is collimated in the direction of the hypermagnetic field. Can an extinct, strong hypermagnetic field be revealed in the anisotropic flux of the present-day Cosmic Neutrino Background ····· 10361101667

This book is about the observation of a subatomic particle switching between matter and antimatter states at a mind boggling 3 trillion times per second. The spontaneous identity fluctuation represents a subtle quantum mechanical phenomenon and its analysis constitutes a high sensitivity probe of Nature`s fundamental forces. The oscillation offers a glimpse of the development of the early universe, and might shed light on one of the greatest unsolved problems in science: the mystery of matter antimatter imbalance in the universe. Measuring the oscillation and the astonishing rate at which it occurs has been an all-too-elusive piece in the grand puzzle, having evaded experimental efforts pursued for two decades. The landmark measurement was achieved by the CDF experiment in the Tevatron proton antiproton collider at Fermilab. It lies on a state of the art detector capability and the development of sophisticated techniques, culminating in what is arguably the most complex analysis attempted at a hadron collider. This book provides a description of the phenomenon, and details the technique developed and employed in this measurement of historic significance. ····· 10361101392

Coulomb modified Nuclear Scattering

There exist experimental situations which involve scattering by additive interactions. Thus, it is of considerable interest to study Coulomb-nuclear problem within the framework of a separable model for nuclear interaction with particular emphasis on half- and off-shell effects which will provide an adequate and convenient starting point for rigorous calculations on few-body systems with charges. The calculation of scattering amplitudes and other related quantities for such problems need not start with kinetic energy as a zero order Hamiltonian. Instead, one begins by calculating states, Green`s functions etc. for a model Hamiltonian which absorbs some of the interactions. This route is followed in studying the Coulomb distorted nuclear scattering to construct exact analytical expressions for interacting Green`s function, off-shell Jost function, Jost solution and T matrix. This book is intended to broaden one`s understanding of off-shell Coulomb nuclear scattering with particular emphasis on the construction of off-shell Jost solution. Self-leveling behavior of debris beds in core disruptive accidents

Studies on the self-leveling behavior of debris beds are crucial for the assessment of core-disruptive accident occurred in sodium-cooled fast reactors(SFRs). Though until now some overall characteristics of the self-leveling behavior have been preliminarily revealed by previous investigators, insufficient experimental evidence has been given in support of their claims. In addition, limitations of previously developed models for self-leveling onset have urged their improvement, especially on transient self-leveling behavior. Focusing on these aspects, the present work aims to further clarify fundamental mechanisms involved in the self-leveling behavior by investigating the flow characteristics inside debris beds and to propose useful empirical models for the prediction of self-leveling development. This work should contribute to the improvement in reliability of accident analysis of SFRs, and should be especially useful to researchers in the field of severe accident analyses. ····· 10361101091

Flavor Violation in Supersymmetry

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
In a supersymmetric theory, all interactions are to be symmetric under the ex- change of bosons and fermions the superpartners. However, supersymmetry must be an explicitly yet softly broken symmetry of nature, and supersymmetry breaking parameters, the so-called soft terms, give rise to various phenomena observable at LHC and future experiments, such as ILC. The mixing among different flavors of matter the flavor violation is one such phenomenon which exhibits a strong dependence on the structure of the soft terms. In particular, decoupling of superpartners from the particle spectrum at a threshold energy near the ultraviolet scale of the standard model induces sizeable corrections to flavor violating interactions. These corrections are strong enough to disqualify an otherwise viable high-scale flavor model by a con- frontation with experiments at low energy. This work focusses a class of flavor models, following from strings or supergravity, and provides a through analysis of their sensitivities to supersymmetric threshold corrections. ····· 10361100705
