The reaction of pyruvic acid phenylhydrazone [HPAPD, (1)] with organotin(IV) chloride(s) yielded the organotin(IV) complexes (2-11). Molecular structural assessments of the complexes (2-11) have been based on data from UV-Vis, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies. The molecular structure of HPAPD (1) has also been determined by X-ray diffraction. Spectroscopic data suggested that HPAPD (1) is coordinated to the tin(IV) atom via carboxylate-O and azomethine-N atoms and acted as a mononegative bidentate chelating agent in all the organotin(IV) complexes (2-11). Spectral data indicated that thiocyanate group is N-coordinated to the Sn(IV) ion in the complexes (7-9). The coordination number of tin in all the organotin(IV) complexes (2-11) is five. The cytotoxicity of the compounds 1-11 was studied against Artemia salina. The free ligand (1) and its organotin(IV) complexes (2-11) were assayed for in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Enterobacter aerogenese, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. The biological studies showed that all organotin(IV) complexes (2-11) are more potent antibacterial and cytotoxic agents than their free ligand (1). ····· 1036118412

A sponge collected at Manza in Okinawa gave two new spongian-class diterpenes (27 and 28) together with two known compounds chromodorolides B (29) and C (30). The structures of all new compounds were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis and chemical transformations. Posteriormente, se estudia la evolución experimentada por estos vinos tras ser embotellados y almacenados durante un año. Una de las ciudades más contaminadas del mundo es la Zona Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México, con más de 20 millones de habitantes, aproximadamente 3 millones de vehículos y más de 4000 industrias. Se realizó un estudio epidemiológico en el Suroeste de la ciudad de 1993 a 1995, el cual concluyó que al aumentar la concentración en 10 ppm de las PM2,5 se incrementaba el 1.4% de la mortandad en la población. La emisión de contaminantes generados por las actividades antropogénicas afecta la calidad del aire la cual incide en la salud humana. Monitorear la calidad del aire es importante para conocer los niveles de contaminación a los que está expuesta la población. La heterogeneización de catalizadores tipo Jacobsen ha sido un tema de intensa investigación, ya que esto permitiría la implementación de procesos de oxidación viables a nivel industrial. En este libro, se reporta un nuevo método para conducir la epoxidacón heterogénea de varias olefinas, utilizando el catalizador de Jacobsen y dimetildioxirano (DMD) generado in situ como agente oxidante. En este método, el catalizador inicialmente homogéneo, se segrega hacia una fase sólida cuando la fuente de oxígeno (KHSO5, Oxone® el cual origina DMD por reacción con acetona) se adiciona lentamente y el pH de la mezcla de reacción se mantiene en un rango entre 8.0-8.5. Esto permitió separar el catalizador y disponerlo para su posterior reuso. Para efectos de comparación, se presenta los resultados obtenidos cuando el catalizador es inmovilizado sobre aluminosílicatos mesoporosos (Al-MCM-41), silicatos mesoporosos (MCM-41) y amorfos. ····· 103612852
