Glass Fibre Sandwich Composite

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Glass fibre-reinforced polymer have been used as an alternative to steel in concrete due to high strength-to-weight ratio, high stiffness-to-weight ratio, and corrosion and fatigue resistance. The main environmental factors for the deterioration of GFRP sandwich composites are temperature, sunshine, water/moisture, alkalinity and load. In this an experimental investigation has been carried out to study combined effect of chosen parameters moisture and temperature & also to study the rate & magnitude of damage of GFRP sandwich structure composites under hygrothermal loading conditions. The sandwich structure composed of E-glass fibre, polystyrene (thermocol core) and epoxy resin were subjected to three point bending test to assess bending strength. Two thermocol cores with different thickness (8mm and 16mm) were investigated. It has been observed that the sandwich structure with higher core thickness withstand a higher bending load show less flexural stress and flexure modulus when compared with low core thickness. Higher percent bending pre-loads lead to higher degradation in maximum flexure load as well as flexure modulus and flexure stress. ····· 1036119701

The Use Of Cold Sprayed Alloys For Metallic Stents

1- This study shows the ability to successfully cold-spray 316L stainless steel using nitrogen and helium as a propellant gas. The microstructure was characterized with low porosity and fine grain structure. In addition, after post-processing heat treatment, the microstructure became denser (i.e. lower porosity). The microhardness did not change with 400°C annealing temperature but decreased significantly at 800°C, which can be explained by the recrystallization that occurs during cold-spraying. Both the ductility and strength were improved after annealing at 1100°C, in particular. 2- This study shows the ability to successfully cold-spray composite 316L-CoCr using nitrogen as a propellant gas with Co-Cr volume fractions (i.e. 25%, 33.3%). The deposition efficiency decreased with increasing the amount of Co-Cr. The microstructure is characterized by low porosity level in the first two mixes. At 50% as mixed Co-Cr and 316L, the actual as coated material was 33% Co-Cr, due to difficulties in bonding Co-Cr particles to each other. Thus, the porosity was high at the 50% mixture and cracks were also apparent. ····· 1036119533

Energy Systems Simulation and Optimization

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Distributed generation is nowadays regarded as the future of energy production. In this work, two engineering energy systems have been studied, namely horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT) and an innovative heat exchanger for recuperated and externally fired gas turbines. The two topics share the final target, which is power production in a distributed generation perspective. The aforementioned two energy systems have been studied with a similar scientific and technical approach: after an initial review about the background, a modeling tool has been specifically developed for each topic. The models have been then validated against experimental data, taken from the literature (HAWT) or directly from an in-house built test bench (immersed particles heat exchange). Once the confidence of the models had been assessed, they have been employed to optimize the energy systems, particularly with regards to some of their geometrical features. In both cases, the study allowed et to obtain some possible design improvements of the systems, et to enhance the engineering knowledge of them. The analyses conducted may be useful to graduate students in Mechanical Engineering and energy professionals. ····· 1036119424

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The aim of this Master thesis is to explore the impact of design parameters on material flow efficiency in terms of space and time utilization. The factory material flow design process is an essential part of any manufacturing. The challenge for this project was to expose the components for the assembly operator within the space designated for materials at the workstation, meanwhile minimizing non-value-adding work and creating good ergonomics so that operators can achieve high workstation performance. In this study a new General Motors Powertrain manufacturing plant was considered as a case study for the design of internal material flow and implementation of lean principles. The research work was based on action research strategy where the researcher starts with a particular problem that he wants to solve, or understand better, usually within the environment where he is working. The ndings underline the importance of each design parameter in the application of lean principles. The main conclusion to be drawn from this study is that the material flow design process can still require a continuous improvement based on production targets and the best practices from other companies. ····· 1036119410

Reducing the Mechanical Wear in Cement Factory

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
During the 2nd world wide war, the wear rates in mechanical components of planes which were in Al-Aalamain (at the north west of Egypt region), were three times as those in the European countries. The main reason for these high rates of mechanical wear is the high rates of dust due to environmental issues and conditions. Cement factory is a clear example of such dusty environment. The cement industry is very important industry in our age. So we want to see what are the problems and difficulties facing this serious industry in our eastern region. More than 70% of the wear causes are due to the contaminants coming from dust and sand particles in the ambient. The very high dusty contaminated environment causes the increasing of wear rates and failure of mechanical components. In this study, the aim is to make a simulation of the practical situation between two adjacent surfaces which must be separated by a fluid film. The used lubricant is Paraffin oil which is the basis for all mineral oils. The experiments were conducted using a CROSS-PIN tester in which the contact between two adjacent surfaces in a point, after that the Wear Scar Diameter (WSD) is measured. ····· 1036119397

FEM Analysis Of Closed Die Forging

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Forging is one of the oldest metal working operations known and is used in making parts of widely varying sizes and shapes from variety of metals Closed die forging is one types of forging process in which different types metal are deformed plastically to obtain the required product geometry in a closed cavity that contains shape of the product. The physical phenomena of forging operations, which numerous advantages it has, therefore, are difficult to express with quantitative relationships. The metal flow, friction at the tool/material interface, the heat generation and transfer during plastic flow, and the relationships between microstructure/properties and process conditions are difficult to predict and analyze. Therefore, in most of the time products and their corresponding dies are made by trial and error to reach to the final correct product shape, which is a costly process as materials are wasted in the process as well as it takes considerable time of the expert involved in the operation. With the applications of finite elemental method some of the problems of analysis could be reduced significantly. FEM softwares are very much important in this regard. ····· 1036119328

Liquid Sloshing in Containers with Flexibility

für 61.20€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Sloshing is the low frequency oscillation of the free surface of a liquid in a partially filled container. If not controlled effectively, sloshing may cause excessive dynamic loads which may lead to structural failure (in case of storage containers) or loss of dynamic stability (in case of transport vehicles). Hence, study and control of liquid sloshing is a well justified topic in engineering and science. Container flexibility causes moving boundaries which further complicate the treatment of this already challenging problem. On the other hand, container flexibility may be treated as a design parameter to gain benefit in controlling the free surface oscillations. Although numerous studies have been reported in the literature, attempts to control sloshing have been relatively limited. This book details numerical predictions using standard finite elements software (ANSYS) for the simulation of liquid sloshing in a flexible container. ····· 1036119302

In the present study, it is experimentally examined and verified the effectiveness of fluid jet pulses to actively control the vibrations of flexible structures. The operating principles and capabilities of the proposed control system are understood by applying them in a simplified small scaled laboratory structure, which contains the basic dynamics of real structures. The efficiency of the jet pulses as an active control system, for a wide range of base excitations, is experimentally verified. All the experimental studies demonstrated the relation governing the reduction of vibration levels with the jet air pressure. The achieved reduction in the intensity of the oscillations exceeds 50% of the oscillation without the effect of the control system. The successful studies performed on the simplified laboratory structure are promising for active vibration control using jet pulses of more complicated structures such as civil engineering metallic structures, lightweight aerospace structures, robotic arms, axially moving systems, cable stayed structures, oil platforms and any kind of coastal structures that are prone to vibrations coming from ambient and operational loads. ····· 1036119258

Thermo Flow Forming (TFF)

····· lezzter Preis 71.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
High performance polymers generally exhibit very high melt viscosities as result of their high molecular weight. They are therefore very difficult to process and require heavy-duty processing equipment. In some cases they cannot be processed at all using conventional melt processing techniques. In spite of this processing restriction, there is high demand for microparts from high performance polymers due to their excellent properties. In this study, a novel processing method called Thermo Flow Forming (TFF) has been developed for manufacturing parts made from high performance polymers. The TFF process is based on the flow of polymer material in its thermoelastic state, between its glass transition and melting temperatures, by compressive flow thermoforming. The TFF process has been successfully tested using high performance polymers such as polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and unmouldable polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE). Thus, the TFF is a realistic alternative technique to the existing micromoulding processes. It can replace the wasteful and inefficient conventional machining of microparts made from unmouldable high performance polymers such as PTFE. ····· 1036119159

As a prerequisite for relevant model development and improvement of design methodologies for supersonic vehicles, this study aims at investigating the influence of wall heat-transfer and shock interaction on the turbulence structure of supersonic boundary layers. Incipient separation conditions and two different wall thermal boundary conditions (adiabatic and cold) are considered. The analysis focuses on the evolution of mean and turbulent flow properties along the interaction region and in the relaxation region downstream of the shock-system. The strong influence of the mean pressure gradient is quantified through the analysis of mean flow profiles and boundary layer integral parameters. The anisotropic amplification of turbulent quantities through the interaction region is characterized and the turbulent events associated with the modification of the turbulence structure of the perturbed boundary layer are identified. The mean and turbulent thermal fields are shown to be strongly modified by the wall cooling which significantly dampens more particularly the turbulent thermal quantities levels across the boundary layer. ····· 1036119060

Titanium Nitride Coatings on Tool Steels

This book describes the methodology and characteristics of hard coatings on tool steel, viz. TiN coated on high-speed steel and D2 tool steel by cathodic arc physical vapour deposition (CAPVD) technique. The main drawback of CAPVD, however, is the formation of macrodroplets (MD s) during deposition, resulting in films with rougher morphology. The presence of MD s in the coating is a serious problem during practical tooling applications. Standard characterization techniques and equipment were used to analyze and quantify the deposited coatings. The MD s contamination and growth mechanisms were investigated as a function of various process parameters. The results showed that the nitrogen flow rate was the most important factor in controlling the size and number of the MD s. 3D AFM images and electron microscopy indicated that the MD s were generated during the etching stage and protruded through the TiN film during deposition process. The TiN coating thickness decreased from 7.1 to 5.7 µm as the bias voltage is increased from zero to -150 V. The effect of ion etching was also investigated. The coatings deposited on HSS exhibited better adhesion compared to those on D2 tool steel. ····· 1036118808

Electric Discharge Machining is one of the most popular, efficient and accurate machining processes. The major aim of the project is the thermal modeling of EDM sparks. Thermal modeling of EDM has been undertaken quite a few times in past decades and literature presents various arguments to its formulation. However, many previous models significantly over predict the process performance possibly due to the simplifying assumptions, hence there is a need to develop a more accurate and realistic thermophysical numerical model for EDM by analyzing the spark phenomenon and mechanism of material removal in EDM. The present project aims to present a numerical model for predicting temperature distribution over workpiece surface due to single and multiple EDM sparks, with realistic characterization of boundary conditions, other factors behind the actual conditions governing the process. The Material Removal Rate (MRR) has also been calculated using the results for the above case. Parametric studies are performed on multiple sparks model with and without material erosion to understand the influence of various input process parameters on the performance measures such as crater depth and MRR. ····· 1036118628
