PASTORAL CARE IN AFRICAN CONTEXT

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Pastoral Care In African Context: The Use Of African Indigenous Practices In Adolescent`s Pastoral Care, addresses issues that affect the adolescents. Certainly, most adolescents in Africa lack consistent and timely advice previously given to adolescents in the indigenous African society. As a result they suffer from social and physiological development related problems due to lack of adequate preparation as they face each stage of growth in Nairobi churches. Adolescents who are counseled are better adjusted to growth and development than those groups who are not fortunate enough to receive counseling. The book proposes, observance of some guidance practices given to the adolescents in the traditional social setup, church leaders need to look into issues such as establishing a good rapport with adolescents, training lay church workers on the needs of the youth, creating ample time and space for adolescents` needs and utilizing the seclusion camp model suggested so as to guide and counsel adolescents in a more relevant manner. This would help stabilize the adolescent`s inner person that craves for identity and recognition. ····· 10361119293

Expanding the Conscious World

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The spontaneous occurrence of expanded states of consciousness is more common than most people may think. Being in nature, meditating, or simply going through the day`s activities may be associated with a sudden shift in awareness that brings a joyous feeling of connection and truth. These experiences have been reported since the earliest times, and throughout the world, by people with all spiritual beliefs, as well as those who have none. This book describes the history, philosophy, exploration, and possible meanings of these moments of expansion. It also presents the results of a research study conducted by the author suggesting that those having this experience have an increased compassion for self and others, a greater sense of connection with all life, and a fervent desire to bring back into the world the insights gained during the experience. It is suggested that states of expanded perspective are a normal aspect of human development, and may be one indication of a paradigm shift as human consciousness evolves. The book should be of interest to scholars, practitioners, and anyone interested in the discovery of maximum human potential. ····· 10361119280

Inquiry into DSM-IV Category Religious or Spiritual Problem

für 59.00€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
This study examined whether and how psychological professionals are using DSM-IV category Religious or Spiritual Problem, V-Code 62.89, in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (American Psychiatric Association, 1994) in their work with clients. A Clinical Experience Inquiry was designed for this study to examine education and training about, and understanding and applications of V-Code 62.89 by American Psychological Association (APA) Psychologists. The study revealed V62.89 is not being used as the authors intended. It suggests that spiritual emergence processes are being overlooked or misidentified by psychologists. Few clinicians are educated or trained to consider the psychospiritual development of the client. Implications of the study reveal the need for exposure, education and training to change the paradigm of psychologists to view spiritual emergence as a viable human developmental process to be addressed in psychological settings. Mental health professionals, spiritual guides, medical doctors, educators, yoga and meditation practitioners, pastoral counselors, clergy, and interested others may find this study helpful. ····· 10361119160

Heidegger and Boss`s Daseinsanalysis and an Integration with Taoism

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
As the world shrinks and cultural lines blur, the need to synthesize important East and West ideas increases everyday. Surprisingly, upon examination, some of these culturally encapsulated concepts are actually similar in profound ways. To begin the investigation, this work examines the philosophical underpinnings of a phenomenological-existential theory of counseling developed by Martin Heidegger and Medard Boss known as daseinsanalysis. The discussion includes the scientific-technological dimming of Being and the oblivion of Being followed by both inauthentic and authentic modes of Dasein. From there, the discussion moves toward the therapeutic elements of practice inherent in daseinsanalysis including phenomenological awareness, the existentials, anxiety and guilt, possibilities and freedom, and the phenomenological analysis of dreams. Next, the work integrates the theory of daseinsanalysis with the Eastern philosophy and religion of Taoism. This integration addresses the principles of Tao, Yin and Yang, wei-wu-wei, and p`u. The comparison reveals parallels along key philosophical points between Taoism and daseinsanalysis. ····· 10361118944

Physical Abuse of the Girl Child:

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The problems of the girl child are many and multifaceted. Physical abuse is one of such problems and it interferes with the girl child`s total development. Physical abuse impacts negatively on the girl child`s physical development, academic performance, social and emotional development, and even spiritual development. These problems, as highlighted in the book, can be traced to the now controversial child rearing and socializing practices- where a girl child is considered a second class citizen compared to the boy child. When for instance resources are depleted or limited in the family, it is the girl child who suffers. She is literally sacrificed so that the boy child advances in his education. This, unfortunately, brings about perpetual poverty and low self esteem in the life of the girl child. In a number of unfortunate incidences, girls are physically abused into submitting to patriarchal powers and this becomes a vicious circle where the abused becomes the abuser. ····· 10361118772

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
HIV+ persons experience distress from the disease and the economic and medical management issues that impact their quality of life. Distress has been shown to negatively impact the immune system in many studies. The purpose of this study was to test an Ericksonian hypnosis intervention designed to reduce distress and relieve the immune system. Forty HIV persons were randomly assigned to either the hypnosis audiotape intervention group or the assessment-only control group. Psychosocial and immunological measures were taken before and after the intervention. Although there were no significant intervention effects, other intriguing findings suggest future paths for research. Frequency of audiotape listening was significantly related to changes in viral load. There was a highly significant correlation at baseline between both total mood disturbance and anger with subsequent increases in viral load being associated with high anger and mood disturbance at baseline. Researchers and others interested in the use of hypnosis to effect changes in behaviors, moods and the immune system will find this study informative and suggestive of future directions in this area of mind-body research. ····· 10361118484

TRANSITIONS IN ACCULTURATION

Transitions in Acculturation discusses the development of adjustment processes among succeeding cohorts of American immigrants as the country itself changed and grew. Starting from an early, largely uni-cultural British America the country progressed through a period when many came from dissimilar European backgrounds. Immigrants had more choices of adjustment orientations and personal identities---for example joining an assimilative melting pot, continuing to live a basically European life in America, or versions of hyphenated mixed identities. More recently, new laws led to important changes in immigrant flows---more coming from Latin America and the Far East. These tended toward a bi-cultural condition in which their previous personality remained while a new American one developed. More recent attention has focused on hybrid identities, discussed with reference to some immigrant Muslims. Finally, the extraordinary explosion in information and media technology in recent years has led some to a post-cultural pattern, featuring fluid adjustments arising out of specific and broadened personal experiences. ····· 10361118435

····· 10361117569
