Four copper chelating agents [555-N], [H(555)-N], [H2(5555)-N] and [H2(556)-N] were synthesized and used for in vitro investigations to determine their formation constants with Cu(II), Zn(II), Ca(II) and Ni(II). The stability for the Cu(II) solution species were [555-N] [H(555)-N] [H2(556)-N] [H2(5555)-N] with significant Jahn-Teller distortion for the MLH-1 and MLH-2 species. Percutaneous skin absorption estimates for Cu(II) complexes indicated encouraging trans-dermal absorption, though were poor in mimicking the Cu-Zn-SOD enzyme. Speciation modelling of Cu(II) suggested significant mobilization of Cu(II) by [555-N] and [H(555)-N] in vivo with insignificant interference from Zn(II) and Ca(II). The in vivo verification of the modelling results through animal experiments showed significant biological half life of the Cu(II) complexes. Overall, in vitro and in vivo evaluations showed potential of achieving exogenous trans-dermal administration, subsequent endogenous mobilization and retention of therapeutic effect of Cu(II) at sites of inflammation. ····· 1036187511

Solutions containing different concentration of cadmium (II) were prepared and analyzed by polarographic method. From the collected data, the polarograms were drawn for each analyzed test solutions. From the polarograms, diffusion current (Id) was determined for each solutions and plotted against their concentrations. The plot resulted in a straight line and it shows the linearity of diffusion current with the concentration of the depolarizer ion. The value of half wave potential (E1/2) was also determined for all solutions and it was found to be uniform. The log-plot was drawn by taking log[I/(Id-I)] as ordinate and the potential applied as abscissa. All the log plots resulted in a straight line in strictly increasing interval and their slope values were determined and found to be approximately in the environs of theoretical value (29.6 mV). Um die bestehenden Katalysatoren weiter zu verbessern ist jedoch eine genaue Untersuchung bestehender und neuer Katalysatoren bezüglich Aktivität und Selektivität nötig. In einer Miniaturanlage wurden im Rahmen dieser Untersuchungen die Oberflächen der Katalysatoren vermessen. Anders als bei klassischen Adsorptionsmessungen wurde jedoch nicht die gesamte Oberfläche erfasst, sondern nur die tatsächlich katalytisch-aktive Kupferoberfläche. Die nicht reduzierten Teile des Mehrkomponentenkatalysatorsystems wurden dabei nicht erfasst, da sie keinen Beitrag auf die katalytische Aktivität haben. Neben der anfänglichen Kupferoberfläche nach der Kalzinierung und Reduzierung des Katalysators wurde der Einfluss von Methanolsynthese unter technischen Bedingungen auf die Oberfläche untersucht. Mit verschiedenen Methoden und Fällungsreagenzien hergestellte Katalysatoren wurden so analysiert. Dabei wurde sowohl die Entwicklung der freien Kupferoberfläche als auch der katalytischen Aktivität im untersucht.
