The coupled momentum and energy equations are simultaneously solved numerically using the finite element package Comsol Multiphysics. A theoretical velocity profile is derived for fluid flow in a pipe with arbitrary number of layers as a result of the heat load on the pipe wall. A new geometry for computing the friction factor in fluid flow that takes care of the instabilities in the solution in a periodically corrugated pipe is developed in Comsol Multiphysics. It is shown numerically that heat load on fluid flow decreases the friction factor in corrugated hoses. We show that the problem of finding a Hamiltonian cycle in a given graph is equivalent to the problem of finding a common extreme point of two especially constructed polytopes. Correspondingly, we develop new optimization models, as well as, random walk algorithms, to solve HCP. In addition, we develop a new hybrid algorithm for the HCP by synthesising DOM and the Cross Entropy method. Finally, we present algebraic properties of the class of stochastic matrices induced by a Hamiltonian cycle. Solutions of the Boussinesq equation can propagate with a finite speed, unlike solutions to the linear diffusion equation. In this work we obtain approximate closed-form solutions to the one-dimensional Boussinesq equation. With similarity transformations a number of initial-boundary-value problems for the Boussinesq equation can be reduced to boundary-value problems for an ordinary differential equation in terms of a similarity variable and scaling function, and we construct approximate polynomial solutions. Our solutions reproduce known exact solutions and compare favorably with the numerical results. Moreover our solutions preserve scaling properties of the problems and require small computational effort.
