Ornamental fish keeping is a hobby of global interest. Ornamental fishes are called living jewels due to their color, shape and behavior. The art of rearing beautiful fishes spread rapidly throughout the world Anemone fishes are members of the family Pomacentridae, one of the largest groups of reef fishes inhabiting tropical and sub-tropical seas, which consist of more than 325 species fewer than 28 genera. They are prodigious, small, often brightly colored, diurnally active and shallow water fishes. Mainly, because of their small size damsel fishes have little impact as far as human economy is concerned, except in the aquarium trade. Many damsel fishes particularly the colorful members of Amphiprion, Premnas and Dascyllus are popular aquarium fishes, which readily adapt to aquarium surroundings. So, an attempt to cover all aspects of marine ornamental fish giving basic ideas and progress made in marine water under laboratory conditions with up-dated figures and data including methodology. ····· 1036189228

The ecology of gazelles in Iran is poorly known and habitat associations of this species have not been studied in Iran hitherto. habitat use by Persian gazelle was studied over autumn-winter period through pellet group count in Bamoo National Park. This is the first study in Iran that presents information about gazelles` habitat use in a desert area through a six-month period.Place and time changes in habitat use or plant use are common for many wild ungulates all over the world.Habitat use is an ecological concept whose theories and models attempt to find the effective factors on the use of special resources by an organism and the reasons for their effective yse.We counted 15 transects in 5 plant communities within the Chahmahaki plains in Bamoo Park and this data contributed to our understanding of the habitat. ····· 1036188676

Estimation of Heavy Metals Contagion in Common Carp from Pakistan

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
This study aims to investigate the uptake of Zinc, Copper and Chromium in the muscles of Cyprinus carpio from Akram Shaheed Bridge and Rasul Barrage at river Jhelum in Punjab province, Pakistan in 2010. The Cyprinus carpio is one of the most edible fishes in Punjab. So it is necessary to determine the concentration of heavy metals in muscles as these can cause public health risks. Some heavy metals are biologically important as trace elements but many of them have the biotoxic effects in human biochemistry. So, it is essential to know about their sources, concentrations, their modes of deposition to pollute the environment, leaching processes, conversions and oxidation states which make them harmful and also how these become biotoxic, because when ingested the metals combine with biomolecules as proteins and enzymes to form compounds which are biotoxically stable. The domestic, industrial wastes and mining are the main sources for the heavy metals accumulation. So, this book will help you to know about the Cyprinus carpio and the health risks to fish as well as to man if he takes the fish contaminated with heavy metals. ····· 1036188632

Due to increasing food demands, pesticides are being used extensively for agricultural crops. Pesticides are contaminating our environment as well. Some pesticides are biodegradable, i.e. These are broken down into less harmful components by living organisms. Specific genes called Pesticides Degrading Genes (PDGs), in these living organisms are responsible for degradation of pesticides. Cloning of these genes in rapidly growing organisms can work to eradicate pesticides contamination during the process of bio remediation. ····· 1036188450

Lead-induced reproductive toxicity in rat

für 61.20€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Adverse trends in reproductive health of wildlife and humans are significantly increased during the last few years. It is widely acknowledged that one of the possible reasons for the deteriorated reproductive health is exposure to a range of occupational and/or environmental contaminants. Among the contaminants, lead (Pb) is one of the non-essential metal toxicants and is mainly used in the manufacture of lead-based storage batteries, painting pigments, solder, automobiles, radio-activity shields. It is believed that Pb is non-biodegradable, immutable and bio-accumulative in nature and thus its release into the environment tends to persist inadequately and accumulate in the living organisms throughout food chain. Thus, it seems apparent that exposure to lead is implicated in serious health hazards in animals and humans. There is a lack of literature data related to the effect of Pb on male reproduction, particularly at the dose levels occurring in drinking water in wide areas of India and in other countries. The present book focuses on reproductive toxicity in rats exposed to Pb during perinatal/adult period. ····· 1036188432

Induction and Treatment of Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome (Pcos)

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age and affect almost 10% of the female population. It is the main cause of menstrual disturbances, anovulation, decreased FSH levels and increased levels of LH, estrogens and androgens, hyperandrogenism, hirsutism, metabolic disturbance, hyperinsulinaemia. This book provides valuable information about the effect of Testosterone in inducing polycystic ovaries in female rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) by changing endocrine and biochemical parameters. Efficiency of metformin was observed in PCO animals for the treatment of syndrome. Polycystic ovaries syndrome is induced in female rabbits by daily administration of testosterone. Testosterone alters gonadotropin secretion, Estradiol and insulin concentration. The use of insulin sensitizers can be suggested in most patients with PCOS. Insulin sensitizers decrease insulin concentration, improve insulin resistance, lowers hyperandrogenism and improves infertility. Metformin is the oldest used insulin sensitizer for the treatment of glucose intolerance, lowers glucose levels and decreases the production of steroidogenesis. ····· 1036188360

Exogenous Oxytocin in Lactation: Impact on Hormones and Milk

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Oxytocin is a neurohormone produced in the hypothalamus that acts primarily as a neuromodulator in the brain and central nervous system. Oxytocin is synthesized in many organs other than nervous system that included the pancreas, thymus, adrenal gland, testis and ovary, and is known to exert paracrine function in these tissues. It is released in the systemic circulation to exert multiple central and peripheral functions, including milk ejection during lactation, uterine smooth muscle contraction during labour, control of social and sexual behaviours, regulation of natriuresis and control of cardiovascular homeostasis. This book focuses on the use of oxytocin in dairy practice, where oxytocin injections are administered to cattle before milking to cure disturbed milk ejection caused by reduced oxytocin release. Oxytocin is administered at supraphysiological dose to facilitate removal of residual milk. This book demonstrates the effects of regular administration of oxytocin on animal physiology, milk composition, plasma cortisol and insulin and will add new research and knowledge to the hazardous effects of oxytocin that it contributes to the lactating animals. ····· 1036188359

Viral Diseases of Honeybees

für 44.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Honeybees are essential pollinators for most of the crops, oil seeds, vegetables and ornamental flowers. In 2000, the value of American crops pollinated by bees was estimated to be $ 14.6 billion. Simultaneous infections of deformed wing virus and acute bee paralysis virus were most frequengly observed in colonies suffering from weakness, depopulation and sudden collapse. Variances were found in the distribution of black queen cell virus and sacbrood bee virus. There was less than a 2% difference in the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) sequences between kakugo virus strains from aggressive workers and those from other worker populations. The distribution of deformed wing virus infection within the honeybee reproductive castes (queens, drones) was investigated by in situ hybridization and immunohistology from paraffin embedded sections. It spread in digestive tract of the bee but also in the whole body, including queen ovaries, queen fat bodies and drone seminal vesicles. It was suggesting that colony disease outbreaks might result from environmental factors that lead to activation of viral replication in bees. ····· 1036188276

Plant molluscicides against intermediate hosts of Schistosomes

für 53.10€ kaufen ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Molluscicides have a history of success and failure in schistosomiasis control. High cost of imported synthetic compounds, along with increasing concern over the snail resistance to these compounds and their toxicity in non-target organisms, has given a new impetus to study plants molluscicides. Three screens were developed to investigate new plant molluscicides from family Euphorbiales. In the preliminary screen, the aim was to identify the plants parts which had no molluscicidal activity and those which did to the snail Biomphalaria pfeifferi and allowed for determination of the LD50 and LD90 values. In the secondary screen, the molluscicidal activity was carried out in which factors that affect the molluscicidal performance under field conditions were investigated by laboratory simulation. For the definitive screen, most stable plant molluscicide was examined for its toxicity towards snail egg masses, other snails and non-target organism. Active components came in later stage of definitive evaluation together with studies of toxicology. Histopathological studies of different organs of treated snails were carried out and compared with the normal tissue from control snails. ····· 1036187932

The present study shows for the first time that the leaf extract of Cissampelos pareira (CLE) has potential anti-hyperglyaemic activity in fructose-induced and fructose-aloxan-induced diabetic rats as judged from the significant reduction in serum glucose and percent glycosylated haemoglobin. The significantly higher percent -cell granulation scores in the CLE-treated animals give further support to these findings. The reduction in the level of triglyceride and cholesterol indicates its beneficial effect on carbohydrate and fat metabolism. The most characteristic feature of the -cells failure is a specific defect in glucose sensing characterized by loss of first phase insulin secretion in response to a glucose stimulus. In this experiment, the fructose-fed rats exhibited impaired glucose tolerance in the oral glucose tolerance test indicating -cells failure. The improvement in the glucose tolerance in the CLE-treated rats shows its important role in the preservation of islet -cells function.Significant enhancement of the macrophage phagocytosis in the CLE-treated hyperglycaemic rats indicates its possible role in immuno-modulation. ····· 1036187398

When people take more calories than they burn, their bodies store extra calories in the form of fat.But when they keep up taking more and more calories than they burn off, more fats build up in their bodies and eventually lead to a stage where the amount of these body fats can impart an adverse and negative effect on their health and emerge as risk of developing various weight-related health problems. The present study was done in Gujrat city to evaluate the number of overweight and obese individuals and investigate the association of overweight and obesity with increased liver enzymes & Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Females showed greater BMI values as compared to males. Overweight and obese females both showed significant increase in Waist Circumference and Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR).Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) showed no significant increase in obese and overweight individuals. Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and Alkaline Phosphatase were elevated significantly in both overweight males and females. Thus, our observations demonstrate a relation between overweight, obesity, serum liver enzyme activity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. ····· 1036186528

····· 1036162204
