Pesticide use in Pakistan increased seven-fold in quantity between 1981 and 1992, from 915 million tons to 6,865 million tons of which 80% were organophosphate. Several studies have reported the toxicological issues and adverse effects of pesticides in aquatic biodiversity. The present study included the effects of cypermethrin on cholinesterase activity and protein content against Rana tigrina. After preliminary experiments of the under test compound, two different doses were selected for the studies. It was observed that at the dose of 1% and 0.1% cypermethrin treated frogs, a total reduction in protein contents was found to be 79, 69% in kidney and 76, 44% in liver respectively, as compared to the control. The cholinesterase was found to be inhibited by 36, 35% in kidney and 52 and 47%in liver respectively, when frog were treated with cypermethrin at aforesaid doses. Based on results it is concluded that cypermethrin has reduced protein contents and cholinesterase activity in Rana tigrina. In Zaria, the standard of sanitation is low diarrhoea in children is high with corresponding morbidities and deaths. However, knowledge of the significance of this parasite in children, especially in the light of modern and more sensitive method of diagnosis is not sufficient. An immunoassay of E. histolytica in children aged 3-60 months was carried out using the TechLab E. histolytica II ELISA kit which is specific and sensitive for the parasite, as microscopy alone is no longer reliable. Out of 183 stool samples screened, 78 (42.62%) tested positive for the parasite. In our findings, infection was significantly associated with diarrhoea and the home location of the children (P0.05). This suggests that infection may have been influenced by poor sanitation and personal hygiene of caregivers. The book suggests that E. histolytica is a major cause of diarrhoea in children in the study area and highlights the need for public health education amongst caregivers towards controlling the infection. The level of insecticide resistance was evaluated in two economically important stored grain pests, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius) in the present study. Resistance level was checked against one organophosphate and four pyrethroid insecticides by using filter paper method and residual film method. Mortality was recorded after 48 hours of treatment. Resistant insects were identified on the basis of their LC50 values. T. castaneum (H.) appeared to be more resistant as compared to R. dominica (F.). These biopesticides disrupt the metabolic balance of the larva resulting into reduced total protein level, decreased DNA, RNA levels, RNA/DNA ratio, activity of alkaline phosphatase and glycogen content and enhanced amino acid level, reducing sugar level and acid phosphatase activity. These biochemical perturbations in the metabolic frame work may impair the physiological fitness of the larva and thereby contribute to the lethal action of the biopesticide. La experiencia se llevó acabo en un hato ganadero llamado `Mata de Guamo` ubicado en el Municipio Muñoz, Estado Apure. Se establecieron 22 estaciones distribuidas en dos ambientes 11 en el bosque de galería y 11 en el herbazal. Se obtuvo un esfuerzo total de 457 horas/hombre para los métodos de avistamiento, rastros y entrevistas y 512 trampas/noche para los métodos de cámaras remotas y trampas de encierro durante toda la experiencia. De los registros obtenidos, la familia Cichlidae es la que está representada con el mayor número de géneros (6) y especies (13), siguiéndole en importancia la familia Poeciliidae con 7 géneros y 11 especies. Considerando su abundancia numérica y en peso, así como la frecuencia de ocurrencia, se determinaron como especies dominantes a Astyanax aeneus, Poecilia mexicana, Gambusia sexradiata, Thorichthys meeki, Rhamdia quelen y Rocio octofasciata.
