····· 1036121663

Employees are employed in organization in order to contribute to the attainment of organizational goals. These employees expect adequate compensation and rewards for their contributions. The process of effectively managing any organization s reward system is undoubtedly one of the most complex and problematic issues in Human resources management. Given the whole ambits of Human resource management, hardly is any issue more important, relevant and crucial to an employee than what he receives in exchange for his labour and services to the organization. Perhaps the most significant policy decisions that have to be made by those concerned with reward management are about levels of pay. In this study, the researcher examined three different elements of social justice/injustice: 1) Individualized learning, 2) Enhancement of students self esteem, and 3) Inclusion or catering for students with special needs, as reflected in various school practices. It also examined how teachers and students perceive the impact of these elements on the process of teaching and learning at school. This study was conducted using observation of classroom sessions, semi-structured interviews conducted with students, coordinators and the school supervisor, and questionnaires that were administered to teachers in order to achieve triangulation. Results showed that individualized instruction and enhancement of students self-esteem are present in the school. However there is no proper care for students with learning disabilities. Implications and recommendations for practice are that a special program for students with learning disabilities should be implemented in the school, and teachers should be more involved and better trained to deal with such students. ····· 1036121513

Sixty four upper-intermediate learners of English were randomly selected and assigned to two groups: with pre-task planning and without pre-task planning. Each participant then was asked to narrate two stories (structured vs. unstructured) based on cartoon scripts. The structured task had a problem-solution structure in which the events could not be reordered without compromising the story, while the unstructured task lacked a problem-solution structure and its events could easily be rearranged without losing coherence. The planners were given five minutes to plan their performance, while the non-planners had no time to plan and performed the tasks 30 seconds after they received the cartoon scripts. The data were recorded, transcribed and coded to measure the accuracy, fluency and lexical complexity of participants` performance. Results indicated that the structured task led to a more fluent performance under the planned condition, while accuracy and complexity remained unaffected. Under unplanned condition, all three variables, accuracy, fluency and complexity, remained unaffected. ····· 1036121482

Part of this literature focuses on the received knowledge which is sometimes characterized by teaching theories and methods found in many books on teaching methodology. What teachers actually need more is the experiential knowledge which meets their professional needs. This book is an attempt to help teachers acquire the experiential knowledge and skills related to the teaching profession based on their needs. It focuses on developing English as foreign language teachers` competencies through an in-service professional development program following the reflective model. The competencies dealt with in this book have been drawn from teachers themselves through needs assessment. Specifically, the book has two major aims. The first is to provide a theoretical background to professional development and methodology of teaching English as a foreign language, and the second is to present a practical program which transfers such knowledge into classroom practice, i.e., the experiential knowledge. ····· 1036121434

The area under hybrid rice cultivation is very less when compared to the total area under rice cultivation. To meet the demands of increasing population and to maintain self sufficiency, the present production levels needs to be increased. This increase in production has to be achieved in the backdrop of declining and deteriorating resource base such as land, water, labour and other inputs and without adversely affecting the quality of environment. Use and deployment of semi dwarfing gene in rice during 1960 s ushered in an era of green revolution. However, the productivity has come to stagnation since last two decades and efforts have failed to give tangible results to break the genetic yield barrier in rice. Among the limited available options to increase production and productivity of rice, hybrid rice technology is the most practically feasible and readily adoptable. ····· 1036121423

Along with the expansion of Chinese higher education, the issue of quality has become a concern. Developing quality assurance systems has been given priority in the agenda of most Chinese higher education institutions. The study presented in this book is conducted against the background of the prevailing quality culture, and focuses on student learning rather than the widely adopted top-down scrutiny of teaching as the main component of quality assurance schemes. A learning-focused quality assurance is proposed in this book to explore how to integrate student learning generically into the quality assurance process for the continuous improvement of higher education quality. ····· 1036121379

The development and dissemination of Teacher Education System Overhaul (T.E.S.O) in Ethiopia has been based on the problems identified by the authorities of the TPLF led Ministry of Education and foreign experts, without the participation of stakeholders. The solutions contained in these documents are also prescribed by these authorities. By doing so, the authorities attempt to provide objective knowledge and convince teachers of the advantages that this change may cause. This rational empiricists approach, assumes that education institutions, schools and teachers will be convinced because T.E.S.O is superior to the former teacher education programs. This book essentially explores how T.E.S.O is working as a means to educational change in Ethiopia. The evidential bases are teachers, education authorities, experts, school and government policy documents and experience of the author. The book shows that head teachers emphasise initiating structure more than consideration, that female head teachers were significantly stronger than their counterparts on both leadership dimensions. It also reveals that performance of students related negatively to initiating structure dimension of principals leadership and positively with consideration dimension.
