The school was sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since its opening in 1958, the school hosted a large population of Polynesian students, in particular Maori. The questions that this thesis centre on the nature, history and reasons for what seems to be a disproportionately higher level of achievement amongst Maori and Pacific Island students at Church College, than in New Zealand more broadly. The motivation for this project was the announcement in 2006 by church officials to close the school. Shortly after the completion of this project, at the end of 2009, the Church College of New Zealand was closed. This project will therefore serve as a reminder of a school that served its community well and for those who loved it, it will always be held in high esteem. ····· 1036121166

It investigates whether demographic factors of age, education level, gender and administrative experience of head teachers as well the categories of schools affect these leadership behaviours. The book shows that head teachers emphasise initiating structure more than consideration, that female head teachers were significantly stronger than their counterparts on both leadership dimensions. It also reveals that performance of students related negatively to initiating structure dimension of principals leadership and positively with consideration dimension. This book is highly recommended for lecturers, students and researchers of school management. ····· 1036121112

Thus, there should be practical change from traditional chalk-and talk teaching to open-ended instruction, a combination of direct instruction, guided practice and independent learning, in which teachers present some amounts of material and encourage active participation of students using of English language for classroom interaction. ····· 1036121103

Each of the basic Philosophy is explained first of all, somewhat purely, as a general and all-inclusive point of view. This is done by sketching its history and outlining its systematic structure. This is then followed in each case by a description of the characteristic practices of the branches of Philosophies in these fields of Education and Religion. The resultant picture of Education and Religion is not a portrayal of a distinct Philosophy for each, but rather both are seen as phases of life in which all basic Philosophies are practiced. This book criticizes this cage and proposes alternative view of accounting education form. The beauty concepts are masculinity, colonization and relativity. Currently, accounting education is regarded beautiful if it uses masculine approach that relies greatly on rationalism if it is used to control and maintain status quo through colonization as well as if it has no values or regards that all values are at the same levels, which is the essence of relativity. The three are the philosophical foundation of accounting education that represents the characters of secularism. Extended Dialogic Methodology, an adapted and extended methodology from Paulo Freire is used to break the beauty cage. The result is a reconstruction of a liberated accounting education, starting from its philosophy right down to accounting education practices. However, at the end of the day, it is realized that there are always concepts of beauty that would like to be achieved, and in the process we are doing nothing more than moving from one cage of `beauty` into another. ····· 1036120963

The ECDC therefore should be manned by motivated teachers and have adequate learning materials, equipments and facilities. Consequently, communities are expected to participate in provision of the necessary inputs. Earlier findings implied low community participation in support of children in ECDC, as opposed to the less vulnerable primary school children. This study, therefore aimed at investigating factors that influence community participation, the modes and levels of that participation, and the relationship between participation and, teacher motivation and suitability of learning environments. The study found that more than 50% teachers had low motivation, and the suitability of the physical environment of over 55% ECDC was below average. As a long-time teacher of preparatory school students, Mohamed Eltawila noticed that his colleagues were not using listening comprehension in their teaching, although listening exercises were in the textbooks and there was time to teach them during the instruction period. Instead, teachers were concentrating on speaking, reading and writing skills. Eltawila used interviews with ten colleagues at a public school in rural Egypt to explore the reasons why listening comprehension tended to be overlooked. Based on results of a questionnaire and review of the literature, Eltawila presents a set of recommendations for including more listening comprehension in Egyptian instruction of the English language. Data was collected through a questionnaire, geometry evaluation worksheet and a semi-structured interview schedule. A total of 160 grade 12 mathematics learners completed the questionnaire and geometry evaluation worksheet for the pilot and main study. Finally, 24 Grade 12 mathematics learners participated in the main study. These learners were interviewed using a semi-structured interview schedule. The findings of the study show that whilst both the learners from working-class backgrounds and the learners from middle-class background employed visualisation techniques when solving geometry problems, their techniques, logic and geometric reasoning differed considerably. RAPD analysis could segregate plants from different populations on the basis of morphology, sex or locations. A few male-specific RAPD markers in plants specific to Gajam coast were identified. The hallmark of such an approach is its claim that social interaction informs cognitive processes (as the axis around which social behaviour is learnt), within a reciprocal process, which can be studied scientifically. Thus, central to social cognitive theory is Bandura s (1986, 18) concept of reciprocal determinism, that is, the understanding of human function in terms of a complex dynamic triadic reciprocal function in which behaviour, personal factors and environmental events all operate as interacting determinant of each other . Relatedly, based on the above approach, the social cognitive theory examines the impact of the collective or the structural on the individual or the agent, particularly on the formation of particular attitudes. As such, the social cognitive theory potentially offers the study important insights into the dynamic process in environmental and/or structural factors shape students Entrepreneurial Attitude Orientations. ····· 1036120799

Nevertheless, many of them communicate a sense of inadequacy with regard to their own musical aptitude and a lack of confidence regarding their ability to lead musical activities. This book describes a novel approach for musical development of early childhood educators, presenting results of research following its implementation. The program focuses on rhythm, the fundamental element of music, and includes activities, such as: body percussion, chanting, movement, playing pitched and un-pitched educational percussion instruments and a gradual process of learning to play a Mediterranean goblet shaped hand drum (Darbuka). The research findings indicate that it is definitely possible to develop musical abilities of early childhood educators and to reinforce confidence in their own musical abilities through a one-year music course, focusing on rhythm. The findings also show that learning to play a musical instrument constitutes a significant factor in strengthening educators` confidence regarding their own musical aptitude. ····· 1036120797

Asking the patients what they think about the care and treatment they received is an important step toward improving the quality of care and to insuring that local health services are meeting patient s needs. Patients satisfaction is of fundamental importance as a measure of the quality of care because it gives information on the provider s success in meeting client values and expectations, matters on which the client is the ultimate authority (Donabedian, 1980). Quality is one of the prime factors which affect satisfaction. There is a strong connection between health service quality perceptions and customer satisfaction. The concept of `discourse` was introduced to the social sciences by the French philosopher, Michel Foucault (1926 - 1984) and this concept refers to the knowledge, beliefs and values that are held by societies, such as attitudes towards deviance. Foucault argues that all knowledge is socially constructed, hence knowledge is shaped by discourse. As education constitutes the study of knowledge, it then follows that education is shaped by discourse. Hence, discourse affects the experience of education for its participants at all levels. The key aims of this academic study were to examine the extent to which discourse impacts upon the educational experience of UK university students, to consider the role played by discourse in shaping UK universities` equality and diversity frameworks, and to reconsider UK universities` equality and diversity policies in the light of information collected, and observations made in the course of this study. ····· 1036120575
