The problems become more acute for countries located in the tropics. The effects of the troposphere on microwave signals due to high rain intensities lead to severe signal attenuation and outage. The objective of this work is to estimate propagation impairments on earth-space links in Nigeria, by using current meteorological (In-situ) ground data and satellite data. The telecommunication market is driven by increasing demand for multimedia services, which require wide bandwidths for high data rates available at Ka and V-band. Therefore the estimated propagation parameters such as cloud, rain, scintillation and gaseous attenuation among others, are very useful for satellite communication system designer. The database of this work will help in Planning, budgeting, and predicting transmission and reception of radio waves signals and maintain a high quality of radiowave reception during tropical rainfall. In particular there is a growing need for cross section data on more complex systems, e.g. larger organic compounds, bio-molecules and free radicals. At such energies it is necessary to account for the loss of flux into collision channels coupled to high-lying bound and continuum states of the target atom or molecule. In the last few years many important approaches have been developed to take account of this difficulty. In this book I will describe a unique technique that uses complex optical potential to compute the various total cross sections. ····· 10361100806

Theoretical analysis using the ConwellWeisskopf and Brooks-Herring approaches indicate the transport and optical properties of highly compensated GaSb substrates are dominated by ionized impurity scattering. Also, enhanced emission of terahertz (THz) radiation has been observed from impurity compensated GaSb substrates. Time domain THz emission spectroscopy (TDTES) measurements show strong emission of THz radiation for the highest tellurium compensated samples of either p or n type conductivity. Theoretical analysis show that both mechanisms, the photo Dember effect and the surface field effect, are responsible for the enhanced THz generation in the tellurium compensated GaSb substrates. Depending on the electrical properties of the semiconductor material, either one of the two mechanisms is dominant. For instance, the photo Dember effect is responsible for THz generation p type samples, and the surface field effect is responsible for THz generation in n type samples. ····· 10361100711

So far, field emission studies on CdS nanostructures have been aimed towards the synthesis of various morphologies by a variety of routes, the attainment of lower turn on voltages, higher current densities at lower fields, and better stability. Present book deals with the literature survey in regards to the synthesis and field emission studies of CdS. Controlled synthesis of CdS nanostructures as well as their detailed optical, structural characterization and also field emission investigations are summarized in the book. Since CdS exhibits intrinsic photoconductivity, it is of scientific and technological interest to explore the photo-enhanced field emission behaviour of its nanostructures which is basic intend of the book. These properties have been correlated with existence of unfilled f electron shell of RE ions, which therefore interact strongly with the lattice. This means the trajectory for any system and its behavior in nature. So, when we know position or trajectory at any time, we can determine everything for this system, e.g. velocity, energy, momentum, pressure, etc. All physical or natural systems are constrained system, except free particles. Newtonian, classically and Quantum Mechanics have Hamiltonian and Lagrangian approach which depend on the energy of the system. From action principle we can arrive to equations of motion from which we can obtain the position or trajectory in any time. It is not an easy task. We can apply this approach for several branches of physics, Electromagnetic, Einstein Gravitational and Field Theory, etc. This book tackles some systems in an approach which is based on Hamilton-Jacobi approach, examine the equation of motion and find out the solution in real physical system. It also tests the validity of this approach on real physical system because its author tests his approach on mathematical models. This book also quantizes the system, since any classical system can be quantized to obtain eigenvalues or energy level. ····· 10361100306

SGM is based on the AFM technique but the metallic tip is used as a movable gate capacitively coupled to the device, and the electron transport property is studied on influence of this gate, providing spatial information with high resolution. This thesis presents the SGM measurement results on various nano devices, all of which are fabricated from InGaAs/InAlAs heterostructures containing a high mobility 2DEG located a few tens of nanometers below the surface. In a work on Braess paradox, with the help of numerical simulations, we discover a Braess paradox effect by modulating a channel width in a `double-ring` shaped mesoscopic device in analogy with the one that occurs in a classical network. By a detailed study of the conductance changes, we discover several charge traps from the SGM map, and propose a model to interpret the conductance change with the presence of charge traps. We develop a method to directly image the charge traps by transconductance measurements with a voltage modulation on the tip. ····· 10361100156

Inside a cavity or waveguide, the spectrum of the electromagnetic field modes is strongly modified for wavelengths that are comparable with or longer than the physical dimensions. Within a cavity of high quality factor (high-Q) the atoms are coupled to very few cavity modes and the radiation can survive long enough in the cavity to re-excite the atoms, making the spontaneous emission reversible and nonperturbative. Mesoscopic Multistability phenomenon results from the interaction of a beam of N Rydberg atoms, flying through a high-Q cavity and drived by a coherent field, with an excited single cavity mode at steady state. The magnetocaloric effect is the key for magnetic refrigeration, which could replace conventional gas compression technology. Magnetocaloric materials must display large temperature variations under an adiabatic magnetic field change and a large isothermal entropy response. The shape and behavior of the isothermal entropy change or the adiabatic temperature change can vary notoriously from one material to another depending on the character of the magnetic phase transition. R2Fe17 (R = rare earth) and Nanoperm Fe-based alloys exhibit a caret shape characterized by a broad peak related mainly with second order phase transitions. Moreover, these materials have magnetovolume anomalies which produce anomalous temperature dependence of their volume, having a minimum close to the magnetic phase transition temperature.
