Mucoadhesive Drug Delivery system

····· lezzter Preis 54.90€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Gastrointestinal mucoadhesive drug delivery system targets the drug to its absorption site and maintain the dosage form at that site for an extended period of time. This results in enhanced drug absorption, which will in turn increase the bioavailability of the drug and thus will decrease the dosing frequency and dose related side effects of the drugs. Microparticulate delivery system is preferred over conventional tablet system as it has several advantages like it provides a wider surface area of contact between drug and the absorption site and also controlles the release of drug from the formulation over extended period of time. Thus the potential of above mentioned drug delivery device is promising and may be considered as a novel tool inorder to improve the therapeutic efficacy of various drugs with shorter half life and poor bioavailability. ····· 1036125596

The medicinal value of different species of Ziziphus mauritiana has been known for a long time. There are various reports of this plant having antifungal, anthelmintic, antiasthmatic and antidiabetic activity. No information about it s antipyretic potential is been observed in the literature. In the present study leaves of Ziziphus mauritiana were extracted with five solvents in the order of increasing polarity using a soxhlet apparatus. All the extracts were qualitatively analyzed for their phytoconstituents and for antipyretic potential using Brewer s yeast induced pyretic albino rats of Wistar strain. The results were tested for their significance by using one way ANOVA analysis by comparing with that of the control group at corresponding hours. The results strongly favour the significant antipyretic potential of the petroleum ether extract of Ziziphus mauritiana leaves.has shown significant reduction in body temperature as compared with control group and its effect is comparable to the standard drug paracetamol. It was also observed that the active extract contains steroids and volatile oil. The TLC study of the active extract supports the presence of six major compounds. ····· 1036125549

Innovation on stomach targetting floating tablets

····· lezzter Preis 44.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
Various approaches have been paused to increase the duration of oral dosage form in the stomach, including floating systems, swelling and expanding system, modified shape system, high density systems and other delayed gastric emptying devices. (Magnetic systems, Super porous biodegradable hydrogel systems). Hydrodynamically balanced systems (HBS) incorporated buoyant materials enable the device to float. Raft systems incorporate alginate gels these have a carbonate component and, upon reaction with gastric acid, bubbles form in the gel, enabling floating. Swelling type of dosage form are such that after swelling, this product swell to extent that prevent their exit from the stomach through the pylorus. As, a result, the dosage form retained in the stomach for a longer period of time. These systems may be referred to as a Plug type system , since they exhibit tendency to remain logged in the pyloric sphincters. ····· 1036125486

····· lezzter Preis 71.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
It is always a matter of controversy whether the formulations use to enhance learning and memory produce placebo or real effects. The study incorporated in this book authenticates the usage of herbal formulations in learning and memory by apparently normal subjects. The first four chapters are devoted to give an overview of pathophysiology, therapeutic interventions including dietary and herbals and the evaluation methods available. A pharmacoepidemiological survey of marketed allopathic and herbal formulations was carried out initially. Based on the results of survey selected allopathic and herbal formulations were evaluated in animals. Further preliminary clinical study of two formulations authenticated the efficacy of the two products used to enhance learning and memory. In light of differences observed in the two formulations studied extensively, more such placebo-controlled trials in different subset of patient population are warranted. It is also indicated that trials are required elderly patients with or without dementia and those with mild cognitive impairment are required to be carried out to authenticate and avoid misuse of learning and memory enhancing medicines (LMEM). ····· 1036125403

Validation is defined as the establishing of documented evidence which provides a high degree of assurance that a planned process will consistently perform according to the intended specified outcomes. Validation studies are performed for analytical tests, equipment, facility systems such as air, water, steam, and for processes such as the manufacturing processes, cleaning, sterilization, sterile filling, lyophilization, etc. There will be a separate validation for the lyophilizer as an equipment item and for the lyophilization process for the cleaning of glassware and the cleaning of the facility and for the sterilization process and for the sterility test. Every step of the process of manufacture of a drug product must be shown to perform as intended. Validation studies verify the system under test under the extremes expected during the process to prove that the system remains in control. Once the system or process has been validated, it is expected that it remains in control, provided no changes are made. In the event that modifications are made, or problems occur, or equipment is replaced or relocated, revalidation is performed. ····· 1036125357

Iontophoretic Drug Delivery System

····· lezzter Preis 44.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The objective of transdermal delivery system is to achieve optimum therapeutic management. But, it still remains a challenge in the field of pharmaceuticals for delivery of ionic species such as proteins and peptides. Development of iontophoretic system is a breakthrough in this field designed to improve the delivery rate of ionic compounds. This technique generates an electrical potential gradient that facilitates the movement of solute ions across the membrane. Iontophoresis is the process of increasing the penetration of drugs into the skin by application of an electric current. The drug is applied under an electrode of the same charge as the drug, and a return electrode opposite in charge to the drug is placed at a neutral site on the body surface. Electrical energy assists the movement of ions across the skin using the principle `like charges repel each other and opposite charges attract`. Iontophoresis seems to be an ideal candidate to sort out the limitations associated with the delivery of ionic drugs. In this book, efforts have been made to summarize all the aspects of iontophoretic delivery. ····· 1036125153

Neurochemistry of Schiff Base Pharmacophore for Caffeine

····· lezzter Preis 44.10€ ···· Rheinberg-Buch.de - Bücher, eBooks, DVD & Blu-ray
The CNS stimulation study has been performed on the two semisynthetic adducts of caffeine with Schiff s base of pyrazolone and pyrazolone-pyrimidine nucleus. All the reference drugs and test compounds showed positive effect on CNS stimulation. The conclusion has been drawn from the fact that CNS stimulation effect for pentylene tetrazole is higher than caffeine, Molecule-I (pyrazolone ring) is less active than Molecule-II as the Molecule-II (pyrazolo-pyrimidine ring) is fused ring heterocyclic compound and the synergistic action with caffeine with Molecule-I having less activity than the Molecule-II but in case of leptazol (pentylenetetrazol), the synergistic activity of the two test compounds are equal but less than leptazol itself. The azole group is present in both caffeine and in leptazol but in fused ring heterocyclic chromophore and the same ring has been implemented in the two test compounds which have been semisynthesized by formation of Schiff s base of caffeine to keep the similar bioisosteric nature. So, the components that have been semisynthesized showed the specific CNS stimulation activity. ····· 1036125145
